Our Mission
At BCDC, we are dedicated to the development of individuals, properties, and future generations. Through career training, mentorship, land development, business advancement, and legacy planning, we strive to build and stimulate economic productivity in our community.
Our diverse team of professionals and community leaders from around the world brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization. Together, we focus on the development and ownership of affordable housing, philanthropic giving, business lending, and housing and resource centers for the homeless.
In times of crisis, the BCDC aims to be a life preserve for the world. Our president & Chairman, J. Demetrius Barker, entrepreneur and author, believes that the BCDC is a channel designated by God as a safe haven for the disadvantaged and needy. Having experienced homelessness and hopelessness himself, J. is driven by a personal understanding of the struggles faced by those in need.
At BCDC, we offer a wide range of programs and services aimed at empowering individuals and transforming lives. From job and life skills training to business lending, reentry support for felons, truancy prevention, affordable housing initiatives, and healing centers for the homeless, we strive to address the diverse needs of our community.
J Demetrius Barker, the visionary founder of BCDC, feels a deep sense of duty to extend a helping hand to those who have been dealt an unfair hand in life. His personal experiences have fueled his passion to provide provision and strength to those in need.
